She is the cofounder and former president of the Pontiac Garden Club (February, 2001 to December 2006). She has a Bachelor's degree in Engineering Graphics and a Masters degree in Organizational Development. She has been an organic gardener for forty years and is an Advanced Master Gardener. She has three grown children and a granddaughter.
